INITIAL TEACHER EDUCATION (ITE)

Introduction

The Initial Teacher Education (ITE), which is pre-service teacher education, is the focus of PITE since its establishment. After TED Policy, the ITE wing was established formally in PITE, which is looking after the affairs of ITE in PITE.

Objectives

  • o Plan and implement ITE Courses like ADE, B.Ed (Hons.).
  • o Develop various techniques / strategies; testing out them and spread across all TEIs in Sindh.
  • o Develop activity based material for ADE and B.Ed (hon.) courses.
  • o Undertake small scale researches. in the Pre-service Teacher Education context.
  • o Organize the Research seminars and conference.
  • • The two year (4 Semester) Courses along with zero semester courses in ICT and English is being offered for the prospective teachers (both male and female). Total 60 seats have been allocated. The admission to this course is based on a uniform policy notified by the Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh.
  • • In the first phase, the affiliation of the Associate Degree in Education (ADE) Course was with University of Sindh; but recently the affiliation of Associate Degree in Education (ADE) Coursse is made with the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad. Currently, total _____ students are enrolled in Associate Degree in Education (ADE) Course.
  • • The Curriculum of Associate Degree in Education (ADE) Course is approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad. The Associate Degree in Education (ADE) Course, as per the approved curriculum, the details of subjects (Semester-wise) is as follows:

  • • The assessment/ examination is being done as per the University policy.
  • • Currently, the Education and Literacy Department and STEDA are preparing to offer B.Ed (Hons.) to maximum number of Colleges of Education in Sindh. In this regard, the PITE Sindh is in process of design a strategy to provide ongoing support to the B.Ed (Hons.) offering Colleges of Education in Sindh.

Achievements

B.Ed (One and half year course) started from year 2010 with the affiliation of University of Sindh, Jamshoro. This course included zero based semesters in English and ICT.The specialty of this course was that it was offered only the female prospective students of Shaheed Benazirabad and neighboring districts. Total___ students graduated from PITE in one and half year (3 semesters) course. The specialty of this program was that it was offered to only female students.In year 2012, the ADE course started in PITE. Up-to-date, total 3 batches with total of ____ students. The 4th batch is in the progress with the affiliation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University. Next, the PITE is planning to extend its service to all TTIs in sindh offering ADE/B.Ed(Hons). The services include improving faculty of program; developing capacity of faculty of TTIs, assess and evaluate the impact of course, etc.
